Homebuyers relocating to the D.C. - Baltimore - Annapolis Triangle, including military families headed to Fort Meade, Andrews AFB and the USNA, often discover the greater Crofton area for the first time when they start digging into the quality of schools throughout the region. It's hard to find anything "not to like" about Arundel H.S., South River H.S., and their respective feeder systems in Crofton, Davidsonville, and Gambrills.
Of course, any school or even classroom is only as good as the individual principal and teacher at that moment, so you're bound to find some exceptions anywhere, but I can't imagine better public schools overall in any community.
Locate Your School is a favorite page on the Anne Arundel County Public Schools website for relocating families because they can quickly learn which school their children will attend by entering the address of any home in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
Once you find the schools for homes you're considering, you can click on the link for them below, and here's what you'll find: The school's address, phone number, administrators, demographics, and a link to the school's own website where you will find even more information. You'll also find links to the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) results and Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) reports.

"Which Crofton School is the Best?" is a question I often hear from relocating families, and I would have to say "all of the above." That's because my family experienced several of them first hand - Crofton Elementary, Crofton Woods, Arundel Middle, Crofton Middle School and Arundel H.S. - and, of course, the children of my clients and neighbors have, as well. Many of my clients have chosen this community FOR our schools, and I've never known anyone who moved away from because they were unhappy with Crofton area schools.
Please visit the Anne Arundel County Public Schools website for more information. You'll find a wealth of information for parents of school age children.

Margaret, great idea to feature local schools in the area. I am an avid supporter of the schools here in the Eanes School District and may have to do one like this for my area too!
Margaret I agree with Russel...defnitely good idea to post on your local schools. Crofton has really changed since I was last there...10 years ago!
Hi Margaret, This is a great way to feature local schools. I tend to shy away too much from featuring schools because of steering. But the way this was done is perfect.
Russell - It just so happens that I had two buyers come into my world yesterday, and they both asked about schools. Voila, this post was born.
Rebecca - I've written several posts about local schools in the past, but none recently. I'll have to look at some of my other older posts to see if they're due for re-freshing.
Ruthmarie - Yes, I understand. I think the best solution for any real estate agent is to give parents the resources for reading these materials themselves so they can form their own opinions.
Margaret - This is a fabulous post on the schools in the Crofton area and I can tell you they are highly read by the public. I did one quite some time ago about schools in the Branford area and it is one of my highest read posts.
It' always tricky answering this question. I always suggest that parents go to the school when parents are dropping of kids and pick them up. attend a PTA meeting... etc. It is a good way to find out the pluses and minuses.
Donna, I believe you're right. I was real good about school posts this year, but had trouble keeping up since January, when I went to Texas for five weeks, followed by my husband's knee surgery, etc... Back on track now!
Joan, I think this post will give families a map for finding the information they want. It's more than most agents do!
