MY FAVORITE QUOTE -
It's not about life as a real estate agent, but you could interpret it that way...
This day is mine. It is unique. No one else in the world has one exactly like it. It is the sum of all my past experiences and all my future potential.
This is the closing section of a longer journal entry by Miriam Wolfe:
There are times when the "poor me" mood is upon us; we're overwhelmed by all the troubles we have to face.
This is especially likely to happen when we have begun to try to change our thinking about ourselves and our relation to others. We may, at first, become too analytical and try to solve too much at once.
For this frame of mind there is an almost infallible prescription: to empty our minds of all our thoughts but one - today and how to use it.
This day is mine. It is unique...
Words of wisdom. Miriam Wolfe was one of the 270 victims of Pan Am Flight 103 on 12/21/88. She was a college student who grew up in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, returning home for the holidays after a semester abroad. Her mother published many of her writings in "Miriam's Gift: A Mother's Blessings - Then and Now." My daughter, Susan, won a small scholarship that Miriam's parents establsihed for high school seniors in a children's theater group that Miriam enjoyed for many years. Susan used that first paragraph as the theme of her high school Valedictorian address and essays for both her college and grad school applications.
I think it very aptly applies to our real estate experiences. We each are unique, the sum of all our past experiences and future potential.

Margaret, thanks for posting that. It inspires you to want to do something special with each day -- to try to make a difference, make a change, make the world a better place. Miriam was very wise. Her loss is a tragedy.
Paula - Everyone in my family has this quote (the first section, by the photo) framed and on their dressers. Definately a daily reminder.
Katerina - Actually, your post regarding your personal story (re the stated income loan) made me think to share this because once again... your past experience and future potential combine to make you who you are today.
Leon - She and her family could probably never imagine how much those words have impacted my family and others with whom we have shared them. It just goes to prove that our lives do touch others, even though we may not realize it.
If more people just went into the group and saw all the lovely posts they'd feel as I do when I need a break from the monotony and just go in there and read only positive and inspirational posts. Thanks Mary.
I loved this, it is so true......
You stated: There are times when the "poor me" mood is upon us; we're overwhelmed by all the troubles we have to face.
Even when we can't empty our minds, we can try to just take one thing at a time....."I will fix this one problem today." Today is all I have. Today I will fix one problem, and enjoy the rest of the day. Today I will remember why life is good, and share it with others. When I share, I gain more than I ever give.
Tomorrow is not here, only Today is so enjoy it.
Sally, you are right. Thank you for starting this Group! It is the only Group I posted this to, so the commenters must have all found it there.
Kathy, So many ways to "connect" with this quote. Thanks for your input.
Donna, That was the exact effect those words had on me.
Adam, It was a little difficult to find a way to identify the author without making it depressing because, while it does add to the impact, they are powerful words without "the rest of the story." That phrase you picked out really does say it all.
