If you prefer high-speed on the water, you probably prefer power boats over sail.  Then again, maybe you just don't want to have to depend on a breeze to even move on the water, to get from one place to another.

The Annual Fall Power Boat Show in Annapolis, Oct. 11-14, will offer you plenty of options - all power, and all new.

Thursday, Oct. 11, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Press/VIP Day($30)
Friday-Saturday, Oct. 12-13, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 14, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

General admission tickets are $16 for adults and $8 for children under 12.  You can order your tickets online or purchase them on-site.

Spend the day boarding and inspecting new power boats, and take advantage of the opportunity to learn about financing, insurance, electronics and anything else you could ever want to know about power-boating including:

  • Power boats ranging from racers and catamarans to trawlers, houseboats and yachts
  • The latest navigation technology
  • Boating products, accessories, equipment and gear
  • Information about services such as marinas, insurance and maintenance

Do you want to live near the water?

There are more than a thousand homes on the market in Anne Arundel County that are located on the water or with water access.  Prices range from the $200.000's to $16 million dollars - surely there's one that's right for you and your boat.  If you would like to look at some of those properties while you're in the area for the Power Boat Show, contact Margaret Woda for a list of available homes in your price range, including addresses, prices, and maps.

NOTE:  The Annual Sailboat Show takes place a week earlier at the Annapolis Harbor

Katerina, Thank you for reading my localism posts.  These events are really highlights of the year for folks in this area, AND they provide opportunities for real estate agents as well because they bring people who appreciate water from the DC and Baltimore areas to Anne Arundel County.

Nice segue from the event to the real estate market, Margaret.  It's subtle, but it's there.  Good job!

Gosh that water looks beautiful!  I love sailing, but I have to admit that power boats are a lot less work!  And I agree with Lisa about the subtle segue!  Smart!

Margaret - I don't boat or sail but love the water -it is so peaceful! When we lived in California, I loved to go to the beach where you hear the waves and sit to read a book. That is a day off!

Lisa - Thank you for noticing.  I hope it's not subtle for consumers!

Patricia - I agree, I'm a sailor at heart, but sometimes you gotta at least have an auxiliary motor on a sailboat.

Paula - I'm coming along with my Tomato blogsite... maybe another week.  Thanks for the reference!  There is something about the water... when you're out on a boat, it just seems like you're insulated from the world!

Aziz - Aren't the boat shows fun?  What a great excuse for a trip to Annapollis ('thought lines at the restaurant are a bit annoying).

MARGARET:  I don't own a boat, but I think that they're great.  I like the way that you tied in the boat show to the waterfront homes information.  Very smart idea.  But I would expect nothing less from you.

Margaret - What is it they call boats? A hole in the water to throw money in? They're gorgeous and the show looks wonderful.

Adam, thank you!  Every year, I try to take advantage of the opportunity to reach this market!  'Never succeeded before, even holding waterfront properties open and advertising them in DC and Baltimore during the sailboat and powerboat shows, but maybe blogging will change everything.  I'll let you know.

Tom, that's very true!  A lot of people are doing exactly that on and around the Chesapeake Bay.
