When you live in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, world-class medical care is just an hour away.

Pedicatrics at Johns Hopkins is ranked #3 in the nationJohns Hopkins is the "Best of the Best" in U.S. News & World Report's most recent Honor Roll of America's Hospitals for the 17th consecutive year.  The Baltimore medical facility also ranked among the nation's best in all 16 specialties, and #1 in Maryland in every specialty.

Of the 5,462 medical centers evaluated, only 173 hospitals made it into the rankings, and just eighteen ranked high enough with at least six specialties to qualify for the Honor Roll.  Hopkins topped such world-renowned medical centers as the Mayo Clinic, UCLA Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic, and Massachusetts General Hospital which filled out the Top 5 Hospitals in the Nation.  No other Maryland, Virginia or D.C. medical facility made the Honor Roll.

Several local hospitals did make it into the U.S. News and World Report rankings, however.

Margaret:  What great information you have shared with us.  I really do not know of anywhere else in the world one can go to get better medical care.  Johns Hopkins came in Number One... and my home city has the Cleveland Clinic as Number Four on your list.  Not bad, Cleveland... not bad at all.  Thanks so much for sharing !  Take care...

Hi Again:  After I made the above comment, I noticed you had submitted it to "Local Expert."  So... I went and checked it out.  It appears Adam has done it agan.  This looks like a great group, so I joined.  Thanks for the link !

And... as far as these posts being boring to do.  I couldn't disagree more.  These "local info" posts of yours are time after time such quality posts... your entire blog should be made mandatory reading for anyone who wants to succeed in their local market.  Thanks for being such a great example for us all.  You Rock !

Katerina - I love your posts about your area!  We just have different things to offer.  And I'm busily trying to create a little 10-item list, in case you haven't figured it out.  'Want to get it done before the busy (hopefully) spring market.  As to boring - I KNOW these things about my area, but I find it fascinating to research all these details I didn't know before.  I know these places were great, but I didn't realize Hopkins is #1 in the Nation, for example, until I prepared for this post.

Karen Anne - It's not important to everyone, but I've had people move here to work in one of these places and others who have benefited from treatment at them.  I do think good medical care is a good reason for choosing this part of the country for some people with chronic medical conditions.

Karen Anne again - Now you know one of my motivations for getting going on these posts - You still have time to participate in building materials for your own relo package, if you want.  5 posts, 11 days to go.  You can do it.  It's not really a contest, because you're competing only against yourself.  Quality posts (in total) will win some nice bonus points.  That's not my reason for doing it - a good relo package is - but it's kinda fun to know someone might actually read it.  lol.

Audrey, Thanks for commenting.  I remember from my military relocation days, I was just hungry for information.  So that's what I try to satisfy in my relocation posts.  (Love your blogs, by the way!)

Julie - We truly do take all this for granted!  Shame on us.
